About Laura Madrigano

LAURA MADRIGANO is the founder and creative director of Laura Madrigano Creative Enterprises. The company, established in 1998, designs and produces handbags, accessories, one of a kind vintage re-creations, clothing, and home décor including a special line of one of a kind pillows. The collection has been sold in over 500 specialty stores worldwide. Laura has been featured in Bloomingdales, Saks, Neiman Marcus Catalog, and magazines like LUCKY, In-Style, and on the today show.

Laura began her career working as a suit and dress designer in NYC and quickly developed her own brand, "Laura Madrigano." Her suits and dresses were sought after for their great "FIT" and feminine "Dior"-like appeal. The sales on her line exceeded over 12 million dollars per year. Media personalities like Mary Hart from Entertainment Tonight and Ashley Banfield wore Laura's Ladylike suits on their TV shows along with many soap opera stars and journalists from all over the country.

As Laura's collection grew, she incorporated handbags into her mix and became a leader on designing and producing her handbag collection in NYC using local factories with methods developed by Laura herself. Hand cutting patterns, and not using "Dyes" perplexed local manufactures, but Laura created new methods to give bags "structure" which ultimately made Laura's collection unique. Her line always included special handwork that many compared to "couture-like" workmanship.

Laura supported the local small business movement in Manhattan as many manufacturers transferred their production overseas, Laura always maintained "made in the USA" appeal. These manufacturing efforts were cutting-edge 10 years ago and her efforts to support local vendors, long time cutters, patternmakers and sewers, remains a part of Laura's reputation and legacy in the fashion industry.

Other innovations that Laura lead was the development of a collection with her best friend Jennifer Roth called "Roth & Madge." This was a "One of a Kind" line of tooled leather vintage handbags that were hand-stoned with Swarovski crystals. These bags wholesaled from 300-1400 and were a huge trend for nearly two years. They were leaders in the concept of "One of a kind" and the first to introduce the concept at shows like ENK's infamous "Accessorie Circuit." These bags were sold at Fred Segal, Intermix, and the leading department stores, like Al Ostura, in Kuwait and also in Dubai. The line was featured in Daily Candy, and Country Home magazine. When Jessica Simpson saw one my partner was carrying at a NYC restaurant it resulted in her actually emptying out our purse to give her one.

This development and Laura's love of anything vintage lead Laura's continued work of "one of a kind" hand bags and accessories. After many years Laura moved her business from NYC to NJ where she now resides with her husband and 2 yr old son on a 100 year old family farm. Laura's designs can be found on-line where she continues to create 2 seasons a year of her one of a kind creations.

Laura is a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology and The New School for Social Research both in New York City. She holds a Bachelors degree and an Associates degree in Fashion design and Liberal Studies. Laura is a member of the Holistic Moms Network, and Generation Rescue.
